This post on an easy diy homemade French toasts with Agege bread is dedicated to all foodies who are looking to try out new recipes in this quarantine season!
Ever since the outbreak of the Corona virus and the compulsory lockdown enforced by the Nigerian government, I have found myself spending more time on YouTube. About 2 weeks ago, I stumbled on Alma’s channel
Before we get into the business of the day, I would love to wish you my ever faithful and loyal readers a happy new month! Welcome to the month of May… May God grant us peace and heal the world!
Without further ado, here is a list of the ingredients needed for the French toasts
P.S- you can just go ahead to use store-bought sliced bread. In my case, I couldn’t lay my hands on any, so I just settled for the popular “Agege bread” and sliced it to the desired sizes!
- Agege bread
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 cup of evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- A pinch of salt
In a clean bowl, add the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla essence, salt, and just go ahead to whisk all together.
Place a non stick pan on low heat. Dip your sliced bread (one at a time) into the mixture.
Then place the “soaked bread” on the pan and allow to toast for some minutes before flipping the other side to toast as well.
Repeat same process till you exhaust your egg mixture and/or sliced bread.
And voila, your very own homemade French toasts are ready to be eaten!
You can pair your toasts with some scrambled eggs, sausages, and baked beans if you’re having it for breakfast.
I made mine in the afternoon, so I simply washed down the toasts with a cup of super cold soya milk (tastes like heaven)
